Tonight is all about music that will move you in every sense of the word. The first of three traditional Romani music concerts kicks off at 7 PM at La Fabrika. If this is your first time at the festival, get ready—you are in for an authentic experience that will stay with you long after the final note.

AUTHENTIC CIMBALOM MUSIC AND FLAMENCO

Look forward to our star-studded lineup: the cimbalom band led by violin virtuoso Ivan Herák featuring the unmistakable vocalist Erika Nováková, Greek music legend Kostas Pavlidis, and a breathtaking flamenco show.

Ivan Herák is a guarantee of top-tier music. As one of the most sought-after Romani bandleaders, he has collaborated throughout his career with artists such as Jaroslav Svěcený, Zuzana Lapčíková, and Ida Kelarová.

A Premiere of Romani Music from Greece

Greece is making its big debut at Khamoro this year. For the first time in the festival's nearly thirty-year history, we are hosting a Romani artist from this Mediterranean country: singer, guitarist, and composer Kostas Pavlidis. His voice, charisma, and ability to blend traditional Romani elements with flamenco, funk, and oriental motifs have made him a star of the Greek music scene.

And, of course, flamenco is a must at Khamoro. Don't expect tourist-friendly folklore or a polished spectacle. The show prepared for you by Sergio González’s Ballet Flamenco is different. It is raw, dynamic, and absolutely captivating. It’s no wonder; dancer and choreographer Sergio González, who leads the ensemble, has been mesmerizing audiences around the world with his artistry.

I SEE MUSIC IN COLOR

The festival offers even more—before the concert, we invite you to the book launch of "I See Music in Color." It features a conversation between journalist Patrik Banga and musician Mário Bihári, who lost his sight as a child but found his path to an exceptional career through music. Today, he is one of the most prominent Romani accordionists in the Czech Republic. Join us for the launch at 5 PM at Kavárna pod Korunami stromů. The event will include a live performance by Mário Bihári and his band, Bachtale Apsa—something you definitely shouldn't miss.

At 6:00 PM, right after the book launch, an exhibition by one of the few Romani photographers, Andrej Pešta, opens at the Fotograf Zone Gallery. His images capture the lives of Roma in Czechoslovakia in a way that was completely different from what society was used to at the time. He didn't photograph poverty or folklore, but everyday life. Without pathos, exoticism, or false pity, he portrayed the Roma as ordinary people with ordinary hobbies.
