One of the most popular Khamoro events! A parade of performers will march through the center of Prague today.

One of our most popular festival events is just around the corner. The traditional parade will fill the heart of Prague with a vibrant celebration. The day will conclude with an evening concert of traditional Romani music at La Fabrika, which is once again not to be missed. Come dance, sing, and celebrate life!

BALKAN BRASS, CSÁRDÁS, AND FLAMENCO IN THE HEART OF PRAGUE

A horse-drawn carriage, dozens of Romani musicians, hundreds of dancers in traditional costumes, and thousands of passersby joining in spontaneously. That is the parade! A procession filled with the sounds of wild Balkan brass, traditional songs of Czech and Slovak Roma, Hungarian csárdás, and Spanish guitar rhythms. An incredible atmosphere and an amazing spectacle that starts at 12:00 from Wenceslas Square and ends at Old Town Square.

Nane čhave, nane bacht – without children, there is no happiness. We are living by this motto at Khamoro again this year, so we haven't forgotten about the little ones. Starting at 15:00, we have a children's day prepared at Portheimka Park. The program includes sack races, face painting, hair braiding, a magic fortune-teller, a photo booth, and much more! You can also look forward to several dance ensembles, singers Valerie Stojková and Veronika Horáková, or rapper Young Dee. Our special guest will be singer Jan Pohlodko.

VLACH MUSIC AND SONGS OF RUSSIAN ROMA AT LA FABRIKA

And what can you look forward to at La Fabrika? We’ll kick things off at 19:00! Once again, we’ll be dancing to three Romani bands. Representing Hungary is the family band Karavan Familia, who masterfully blend traditional Vlach melodies with Latin, blues, and pop. The group was founded over twenty years ago by parents and their children, and they have been touring all over Europe ever since. If you love deep melodies with a touch of melancholy or, conversely, energetic Vlach csárdás, Karavan Familia from Hungary is a great choice for tonight.

The program will continue with Diamant Tzigane from France. Founded by the charismatic singer Zhanna Dzhelakayeva, who comes from a renowned Moscow artistic dynasty, and Ukrainian musician Slava Mikhailyuk, the ensemble brings authentic Romani temperament to the stage combined with the elegance of Parisian cabarets.

THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE EVENING: EKREM MAMUTOVIĆ ORKESTAR

It might seem like nothing else could surprise you today, but the icing on the cake will be authentic Balkan brass music performed by the Ekrem Mamutović Orkestar. They are among the most respected Romani brass ensembles not only in Serbia but worldwide. Ekrem is a successor to one of the oldest Romani musical families in the Balkans; he literally grew up with a trumpet in his hand and was already on stage as a member of his family band at the age of 12. It’s going to be explosive!
