Khamoro is starting! Come to the party with Vanesa Horáková and Igor Kmeťo!

May 24, 2024

The annual celebration of Romani culture in all its forms is here. On Sunday, May 26, we are kicking off the 26th edition of the world's largest Romani festival. We will start our week-long marathon with the Khamoro party at Gauč na Výstavišti at 7:30 PM. This year, we are joined by the darlings of Czech and Slovak Roma – funk star Igor Kmeťo and the exceptionally talented sixteen-year-old singer Vanesa Horáková. No proper Romani celebration today would be complete without them.

Igor Kmeťo is a charismatic funk singer and versatile musician known to almost every Rom in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. He rose to fame primarily through his work with the band Kmeťoband alongside his father. They even earned a multi-platinum record for their breakthrough 2003 album, Bubamara. Igor collaborates with stars of the Czech and Slovak show business scene such as Rytmus, Dara Rolins, and Anita Soul. It is no surprise that his songs have millions of views online.

Hands up! Vanesa Horáková, only sixteen years old, is already well on her way. Her most famous song has literally taken the world by storm and has nearly 6 million views on YouTube! The career of this Slovak native is just beginning, but she is already one of the most sought-after Romani singers in both Slovakia and the Czech Republic. She first caught the public's attention last year when she appeared on a televised talent show, and she has been performing non-stop ever since. Come and see her extraordinary talent for yourself! Believe us, this first open-air concert will be truly worth it! We look forward to seeing you there!
