October in Families Next Door : 3 Prague performances by famous stand-up comedians!

The shared meals between Czech families and families from third countries are fast approaching, so we have been busy with the final preparations. We are reaching out to both Czech and foreign families not only through the media but also directly. During October, as part of our media partnership with Radio 1, our radio spot was aired 20 times.

We have continued to distribute flyers, which we have prepared in six different languages.

Throughout the month, we also held 3 stand-up performances in Prague:

On October 19, comedians Alisher Nurakhmetov and Nikola Džokič presented their unique brand of humor at the Potrvá café.

On October 21, the Czech-Kazakh comedy duo of Jiří Jakima and Alisher Nurakhmetov performed at the Café club Míšeňská.

On October 24, Tigran Hovakimyan and Nikola Džokič performed at the Café Na půl cesty.

The Families Next Door project creates a space for cultural exchange, building new long-term friendships, and, most importantly, fostering relationships between families from different countries through shared meals. Foreigners have the opportunity to better understand Czech culture and customs, which helps them integrate into the majority society. Czech families get to taste new foods and learn about different cultures, which is invaluable in today's world. Registered families are paired by project assistants who make decisions based on the participants' age, hobbies, language, and place of residence. In previous years, families from Syria, India, Belarus, Turkey, Egypt, Libya, Iran, Algeria, Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Vietnam, Mongolia, New Zealand, and, of course, the Czech Republic have participated.

This year's meeting of Czech families and families from third countries at the dinner table will take place on Sunday, November 27. If you are interested in participating, you can read everything you need to know below.

How is the meeting structured?

A family decides whether or not they want to be a host. One of the 30 planned meetings will then take place in the host family's home. Registered families are matched based on specific criteria (age, profession, occupation, interests, number and age of children, etc.), which ensures common topics for conversation and a friendly atmosphere. Often, the relationships formed in this way continue long after the dinner is over.

An assistant is present at every meeting, whose role is not only to facilitate communication and oversee the meeting but also to break the ice if necessary. For many years, the project has contributed to strengthening a multicultural environment, and through its original and individual approach, it aims to enable and support mutual communication between Czech society and foreigners from third countries living in the Czech Republic.
