It’s here! The Khamoro party at Gauč na Výstavišti kicks off the 27th annual Khamoro, the world’s largest Roma festival, today. Starting at 7:30 PM, get ready for musical performances guaranteed to get you on your feet. Come and hear Thomas, a favorite of the younger generation, the dance rhythms of the band Ritmo Gitano, and the angelic voice of singer Tessie.

Tereza “Tessie” Ondičová is one of the most sought-after Roma singers on the local scene. Growing up surrounded by music, she first took the stage at just thirteen. She became a household name about six years ago when she shone in The Voice television singing competition. Tessie has been pursuing a solo career since 2021. Her songs, such as “But Barvali” and “Dukhal dukhal,” are staples at any proper Roma celebration—where, of course, traditional music should also be a must.

Providing that traditional flair at the Khamoro party is the seven-member local group Ritmo Gitano, who blend gypsy rumba, flamenco, and salsa with classic Roma czardas. Although they have only been playing in this lineup for two years, they have already made quite a splash. This band of talented musicians regularly performs at various festivals across the Czech Republic. And people love them—Ritmo Gitano never lets the crowd stay still. And if that’s still not enough for you, the Khamoro party has one last ace up its sleeve: Thomas! He possesses one of the most original voices of the new generation of Roma singers. His music fuses R&B with original lyrics that capture love, joy, and a slice of life. Thanks to his talent, Thomas has collaborated with stars of the contemporary music scene, performing alongside the likes of funk king Igor Kmeťo and the well-known rapper Refew.
