Khamoro project participants share their experience after completing a two-day training!

With this year's Khamoro fast approaching, a group of talented young Roma completed a two-day cultural training course in Prague, just as in previous years. The knowledge and skills gained during this training can be applied not only to organizing the world's largest Roma festival but also to their own future events.

During the cultural training, participants attended a workshop with Khamoro director Jelena Silajdzić and head of production Inka Jurková. They learned about the festival's organizational structure, this year's program, their specific roles in executing Khamoro, and other useful information.

The cultural training also included breakout sessions where participants developed conceptual frameworks for their own cultural events.

Based on our past experience, we have found that the most effective way to engage young people with some prior experience is to have them participate directly in the production of a major festival like Khamoro.

Supporting young Roma in various fields is one of our primary goals. Over the more than 20 years that the Khamoro World Roma Festival has existed, we have gained a wealth of experience and enabled young Roma to participate in its preparation and execution. This project serves as cultural management training, helping to professionalize young Roma and empowering them to independently and effectively carry out their own cultural projects.
