Despite the coronavirus pandemic, ninety-four students took advantage of tutoring, counseling, and courses to help them successfully pass high school entrance exams in 2020.

The Dža dureder (English: Keep Going) project has been implemented for years by the non-profit organization Slovo 21, z. s. A total of 94 Roma and non-Roma students from 1st to 9th grade participated in the 2020 Dža dureder project between January 1 and December 31, 2020.

Compared to last year, tutoring expanded to Rokycany and Ostrava, taking place in the Moravian-Silesian, Ústí nad Labem, Pardubice, and Plzeň regions, as well as in Prague.

The Covid-19 pandemic significantly impacted life in the Czech Republic, yet it was still possible to carry out 47 courses and provide students with individual and group tutoring, as well as preparation for high school entrance exams, within the scope of the project.

The necessary shift to online tutoring compensated for in-person instruction for most students, providing explanations for assigned homework and tasks, primarily in mathematics, Czech, English, and other subjects.

"Despite Covid-19, the participating students continued their tutoring online using free mobile and internet applications (Zoom, Messenger, Skype, and others) that allow for audio/video communication," revealed project coordinator Denisa Miková.

9th-grade students were successfully admitted to high school, while other students advanced to the next grade and successfully completed the 2019/2020 school year.

The project also provides students from socially disadvantaged families with material support in the form of purchased teaching aids and study materials.

The project is supported by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports grant program for the integration of the Roma minority in 2020.
