Prague Together

Prague is more than just Czechs – today, approximately a quarter of the capital's population are foreigners. They are no longer just people who came here due to war or hardship, but our neighbors, colleagues, and friends. To foster understanding and coexistence, we bring the lives and cultures of foreigners closer to Praguers, while simultaneously helping foreigners understand the Czech mentality, traditions, and values.

· We are building on the successful Prague for Ukraine project, through which we helped 745 Ukrainian refugees in 2023.

· We will offer Praguers performances by the Theatre of the Oppressed and participate in neighborhood festivals Zažít město jinak.

· We will continue to provide methodological support to Ukrainian non-profit organizations in Prague and will publish a Czech-Ukrainian children's book by Petr Soukup.  

· The Prague Together project runs from January 1 to December 31, 2026.

Zažít město jinak

A unique neighborhood festival that transforms Prague's public spaces into places full of connection, creativity, and inspiration. In 2024, we will participate in the Zažít Americkou jinakevent, where we will host a booth dedicated to the activities of Slovo 21. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about our projects supporting the integration of foreigners in the capital.

Theatre of the Oppressed

A theatrical performance that allows the audience to experience what it is like to be a Ukrainian refugee. That is the production Světlana, which was created based on the true stories of Ukrainian women with the help of experts Dana Moree and Líza Urbanová. Theatre of the Oppressed is a unique method designed for (non)actors, who have the opportunity to explore their life stories and real-life situations through the language of theatre. The audience also plays an important role, as they are interactively involved in the performance and discuss the situations being addressed. Thanks to this audience participation, every performance creates a unique experience.

Collaboration with Ukrainian organizations in Prague

With the arrival of thousands of Ukrainian refugees in Prague in 2022, a number of Ukrainian non-profit organizations were established, whose development we have been actively supporting from the very beginning. We provide them with training that includes both theoretical and practical skills to help ensure their stability and long-term development. This increases the quality and scope of their services, not only for Ukrainian refugees in Prague.

Book Poems for Your Pictures  

Learning Czech can be playful and creative! This is proven by Petr Soukup's book Poems for Your Pictures, which we published in 2020. It contains 60 poems in Czech and Ukrainian and blank pages intended for children's illustrations. Every reader thus becomes a co-author of the book by adding their own drawings. Thanks to financial support from the City of Prague, we will print 250 copies of this book, which we will distribute to Prague schools.
