The Khamoro World Roma Festival, founded by Slovo 21 and Studio Production Saga in 1999, has a rich history and is one of the largest of its kind in the world.  Khamoro presents professional Romani culture and art (music, dance, theatre, visual and alternative art, literature) to the general public from the Czech Republic and abroad in all its dimensions and forms. It proves that Romani culture and art are a full-fledged part of the Czech and world cultural heritage. The festival also features a component one xpertise and education. Khamoro is a recipient of the prestigious international EFFE Label award.

Education should be inclusive. Project "Sar Upre!" (How to do it!) builds on the long-term experience of Slovo 21 in the field of education. The aim is to increase the competencies of primary school teachers so that they do not perceive pupils as one homogenous whole but as individuals coming from diverse cultural backgrounds and living conditions. Teachers should adapt their teaching methods accordingly. In our opinion, this is a mastery of teaching skills that only an excellent teacher can achieve. That is why we provide teachers with practical advice based on experience in this area both from the Czech Republic and abroad.

Art is a reflection of every society. It is a mirror or reflection (GENDAL'IPEN in Romani) of the world as we see it or wish to see it. It has the power to define, preserve and communicate specific individual ideas as well as collective cultural codes. The goal of Gendal'ipen is to support Romani artists in their creation and presentation of professional Romani contemporary art through a variety of activities, the us showing that Roman icontemporary art and artists wish to be seen and heard and that they have a right fulplace in (not only Czech) culture and society.

The Romani women's group Manushe, which today has more than 200 members, is an informal group operating under the banner of Slovo 21 since 2000. It draws its name from the female equivalent of the Romani word "manus" - man. The group’s motto is "Education, self-confidence, emancipation”, and it develops its activities in this spirit. Its goal is to support and educate Romani girls and women in order to gain sufficient self-confidence, set their priorities, and fight for their position in Romani families. The group has several successful projects to its credit.

There is a new generation of young Romani artists on the scene, working in the fields of music, dance, alternative art, theatre, and literature. Unfortunately, as of now, there is not sufficient interest and knowledge on the part of art critics who would be the ones to focus more on the Romani culture. Through interdisciplinary activities, the AndroMedia (In the Media) project contributes to increasing the interest and expertise of not just professional critics but also students and future journalists in the field of Roma culture and art. Thanks to these efforts, the project contributes to greater awareness of Romani culture in the media,

It takes courage! Being an equal partner respected by the local government and beingable to be a part of the decision-making on what is happening in the local area is the basic goal of this project. Bidaripen is helping members of Roma communities in seven cities in the Czech Republic to become active participants, so that the Roma themselves can participate in or come up with new proposals for positive changes in their cities. The main actors are community organizers, long-time members of the women's Romani group Manushe, who themselves decided on the structure of the Bidaripen / With Courage project.

We have been working on the topic of Romani literature for a long time. Five years ago, we created the Gavoro project, which systematically focuses on supporting Romani literature and Romani writers. We want to contribute to the preservation of Romani literary heritage and language as an important part of Romani culture and identity. Within the framework of this project, the club of Romani writers Paramisara was established, with members receiving continuous support both in the field of creation and in the presentation of their works in the form of literary readings, storytelling, and participation in literary events and book fairs.

It is essential for teenagers to choose a suitable role model. Based on the prototype of the female Roma group Manushe, local groups of girls aged 14-18 were established. Like the older members, the young girls are given space for self-realization. The more senior group members motivate them, mentor them, encourage them to participate actively and to take part in public events or campaigns. The project includes, if necessary, tutoring in school subjects as well as education in the areas of health and reproduction.

This project, implemented in 11 partner countries, aims to exchange new approaches to Roma integration through better social inclusion, higher youth employment, and poverty reduction. Diverse activities support the integration and strengthening of Roma communities through intensive cooperation between partners based on sharing experiences. Project activities were selected on the basis of best practices in countries where they have already been implemented.

The project will establish a new full-time Roma advisor at the Prague 3 District Office. The Roma advisor will make a significant contribution to the integration of the Roma community in this region where this minority is the largest national minority. The advisor will act as a mediator between the Roma minority and the majority society. The project is being implemented in cooperation with two partners from the Czech pro-Roma non-profit organizations, R-Mosty and Slovo 21.

Supporting young Roma in various areas is one of the main goals of our organization. In the more than 20 years of the Khamoro World Roma Festival, we have accumulated a wealth of experience and enabled young Roma to participate in the festival's planning and implementation phases. The Khamoro program shares this experience. It involves training in cultural management that helps to professionalize young Roma, allowing them after wards to implement cultural projects throughout the Czech Republic independently.

Only a society in which everyone, including minorities, has a voice can be considered democratic. Based on the experience gained so far, we are developing a new project that focuses on strengthening the competencies of the Roma employees of our organization in the field of advocacy. Advocacy is a prerequisite for their active participation in formulating the needs and promoting the interests of the Roma community at the local level.

Educational projects focused on the tutoring and mentoring of socially disadvantaged primary school pupils and working with their parents have been taking place in Slovo 21 since 2004. Dža dureder is one of the main projects. Free tutoring helps students understand the curriculum that is causing them difficulties while motivating them to complete the current school year with better academic performance. Dža dureder's mission is to support students and encourage them top ursue higher education.

Slovo21 is a member of the European Roma Grassroots Organizations (ERGO) Network, as one of 31 non-governmental, non-profit organizations from 20 countries working in the field of Roma inclusion. In addition to the employment campaign, every year we focus on strengthening the capacity of Roma NGOs and engaging in local action groups - LAGs (part of Community Led Loca lDevelopment, CLLD), which address the situation of Roma inclusion in smaller cities throughout the Czech Republic.
