July updates on The Family Next Door project: We are preparing STAND-UP performances by well-known comedians!
31/7/2022

Performances by well-known STAND-UP comedians from among foreigners living in the Czech Republic are also an integral part of The Family Next Door project, which is proud of the very prestigious SozialMarie award from 2011.

The same will be this year when we will hold several such events in the fall. The first will take place on August 10 at the square in Telč where Nikola Džokič and Jiří Jakima will be performing.

We are also busy preparing the meeting of Czech and foreign families at one table, this is the main activity of the project.

This year's meeting will take place on November 27, and you too have the opportunity to participate in such a meeting.

A Czech family or a family of foreigners from third countries with the legal status of residence in the territory of the Czech Republic can join the joint dining.

How is the meeting designed?

The family decides whether they want to host or not. One of the 30 planned meetings will then take place in the home of the host family. Registered families are connected based on certain criteria (age, profession, job, interests, number and age of children, etc.), this ensures common topics for conversation and a friendly atmosphere. Often the relationships established in this way continue even after the dinner is over.

An assistant is present at every meeting, whose task is not only to mediate communication and supervise the progress of the meeting but also, if necessary, to break through the initial shyness. The project has been contributing to the strengthening of a multicultural environment for many years, and with the help of its original and individual form, it wants to enable and support the establishment of mutual communication between Czech society and foreigners from third countries living in the Czech Republic.

The Family Next Door project creates a space for the exchange of cultural experiences, the establishment of new long-term friendships and, above all, the creation of relationships between families from different countries, in the form of joint dining between Czech families and families of foreigners. Foreigners have the opportunity to get to know Czech culture and customs better, which will help them integrate into mainstream society. Czech families get to taste new foods and get to know different cultures, which is priceless these days.

Registered families are matched by project assistants who make decisions based on the age, hobbies, language and place of residence of the participants. In previous years, families from Syria, India, Belarus, Turkey, Egypt, Libya, Iran, Algeria, Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Vietnam, Mongolia and New Zealand have participated. And of course from the Czech Republic.
