October in The Family Next Door: 3 Prague performances by well-known stand-up comedians!
31/10/2022

The joint dining of Czech families and families from third countries is fast approaching, so we continue to work on their preparations. We address Czech families and families of foreigners not only through the media but also "directly". During October, as part of media cooperation with Radio 1, we broadcast our radio spot 20 times on their airwaves.

We continued to distribute leaflets, which we prepared in six language versions.

During the month, we also realized 3 stand up performances in Prague:

On October 19, comedians Alisher Nurakhmetov and Nikola Đokic presented themselves in the Café "Potrňa" with their specific humour.

On October 21, the Czech-Kazakh duo of entertainers Jiří Jakim and Alisher Nurakhmetov performed at the Café club "Míšeňská".

On October 24, at Café "Halfway" Tigran Hovakimyan and Nikola Dzokic

Trigran Hovakimyan a Jiří Jakima

The project Family Next Door creates a space for the exchange of cultural experiences, the establishment of new long-term friendships and, above all, the creation of relationships between families from different countries, in the form of joint dining between Czech families and families of foreigners. Foreigners have the opportunity to get to know Czech culture and customs better, which will help them integrate into mainstream society. Czech families taste new foods and get to know different cultures, which is priceless these days. Registered families are matched by project assistants who make decisions based on the age, hobbies, language and place of residence of the participants. In previous years, families from Syria, India, Belarus, Turkey, Egypt, Libya, Iran, Algeria, Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Vietnam, Mongolia, New Zealand and, of course, the Czech Republic participated.

This year's meeting of Czech families and families of foreigners from third countries around a set table will take place on Sunday, November 27. If you are interested in participating, you can read everything you need to know below.

How is the meeting designed?

The family decides whether they want to host or not. One of the 30 planned meetings will then take place in the home of the host family. Registered families are connected based on certain criteria (age, profession, job, interests, number and age of children, etc.), this ensures common topics for conversation and a friendly atmosphere. Often the relationships established in this way continue even after the dinner is over.

An assistant is present at every meeting, whose task is not only to mediate communication and supervise the progress of the meeting but also, if necessary, to break through the initial shyness. The project has been contributing to the strengthening of a multicultural environment for many years, and with the help of its original and individual form, it wants to enable and support the establishment of mutual communication between Czech society and foreigners from third countries living in the Czech Republic.
