Preparations for this year's meetings of the Next Door Family are in full swing! We have a new poster and we're making an audio spot!
30/6/2022

Although the gathering of families of Czech and foreign families at the same table will take place in the fall, we are intensively working on the project Next Door Family 2022.

As part of this year's campaign, we have prepared a new poster and at the same time, we are preparing an audio spot, which aims to reach as wide a range of potentially interested parties as possible.

This applies to you too. You have the opportunity to participate in this unique project, don't he sitate, time flies and the meeting date is already scheduled for November 27. Should the pandemic situation not be favourable, or other serious issues arise on the part of individual families, it is possible to arrange another date.

In addition to the meeting, we are also preparing six performances by STAND-UP comedians - foreigners in cafes or other suitable spaces for such an event, we will specify the specific places subsequently, but we can already confirm the participation of well-known faces, for example, Tigran Hovakymian and Nikola Džokić.

The project Next Door Family creates a space for the exchange of cultural experiences, the establishment of new long-term friendships and, above all, the creation of relationships between families from different countries in the form of joint dining between Czech families and families of foreigners. Foreigners have the opportunity to get to know Czech culture and customs better, which will help them integrate into mainstream society. Czech families get to taste new foods and get to know different cultures, which is priceless these days.

Registered families are matched by project assistants who make decisions based on the age, hobbies, language and place of residence of the participants. In previous years, families from Syria, India, Belarus, Turkey, Egypt, Libya, Iran, Algeria, Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Vietnam, Mongolia and New Zealand have participated. And of course from the Czech Republic.

The "Next Door Family " projectis proud of the prestigious Austrian award SozialMarie 2011. At the end o f2013, it was also awarded by the Maurer Foundation as one of the best projects in the field of gastronomy that deals with helping the socially disadvantaged. The European Commission identified the project as one of the best ways of integrating foreigners into society.

Thanks to its innovation and success, the project has spread beyond the borders of the Czech Republic.

Matvijevská Marina (hostess):

"A great, wonderful meeting, we didn't want to say goodbye at all. We see med to be on the same page and didn't feel like strangers at all. The conversation was balanced on both sides and we are glad for the wealth of information. They are a very friendly family, thank you!'

Can I participate?

A Czech family or a family of foreigners from third countries with the legal status of residence in the territory of the Czech Republic can join the joint dining.

How is the meeting designed?

The family decides whether they want to host or not. One of the 30 planned meetings will then take place in the home of the host family. Registered families are connected based on certain criteria (age, profession, job, interests, number and age of children, etc.), this ensures common topics for conversation and a friendly atmosphere. Often the relationships established in this way continue even after the dinner is over.

An assistant is present at every meeting, whose task is not only to mediate communication and supervise the progress of the meeting but also, if necessary, to break through the initial shyness. The project has been contributing to the strengthening of a multicultural environment for many years, and with the help of its original and individual form, it wants to enable and support the establishment of mutual communication between Czech society and foreigners from third countries living in the Czech Republic.
