This applies to you too. You have theopportunity to participate in this unique project, don't hesitate, time fliesand the meeting date is already scheduled for November 27. Should the pandemicsituation not be favourable, or other serious issues arise on the part ofindividual families, it is possible to arrange another date.

In addition to the meeting, we are alsopreparing six performances by STAND-UP comedians - foreigners in cafes or othersuitable spaces for such an event, we will specify the specific placessubsequently, but we can already confirm the participation of well-known faces, for example, Tigran Hovakymian and Nikola Džokić.

The project Next Door Family creates aspace for the exchange of cultural experiences, the establishment of newlong-term friendships and, above all, the creation of relationships betweenfamilies from different countries in the form of joint dining between Czechfamilies and families of foreigners. Foreigners have the opportunity to get toknow Czech culture and customs better, which will help them integrate intomainstream society. Czech families get to taste new foods and get to knowdifferent cultures, which is priceless these days.

Registered families are matched by projectassistants who make decisions based on the age, hobbies, language and place ofresidence of the participants. In previous years, families from Syria, India,Belarus, Turkey, Egypt, Libya, Iran, Algeria, Russia, Ukraine, Armenia,Vietnam, Mongolia and New Zealand have participated. And of course from theCzech Republic.

The "Next Door Family " projectis proud of the prestigious Austrian award SozialMarie 2011. At the end of2013, it was also awarded by the Maurer Foundation as one of the best projectsin the field of gastronomy that deals with helping the socially disadvantaged. The European Commission identified the project as one of the best ways ofintegrating foreigners into society.

Thanks to its innovation and success, theproject has spread beyond the borders of the Czech Republic.

Matvijevská Marina (hostess):

"A great, wonderful meeting, we didn'twant to say goodbye at all. We seemed to be on the same page and didn't feellike strangers at all. The conversation was balanced on both sides and we areglad for the wealth of information. They are a very friendly family, thankyou!'

CanI participate?

A Czech family or a family of foreignersfrom third countries with the legal status of residence in the territory of theCzech Republic can join the joint dining.

Howis the meeting designed?

The family decides whether they want tohost or not. One of the 30 planned meetings will then take place in the home ofthe host family. Registered families are connected based on certain criteria(age, profession, job, interests, number and age of children, etc.), thisensures common topics for conversation and a friendly atmosphere. Often therelationships established in this way continue even after the dinner is over.

An assistant is present at every meeting, whose task is not only to mediate communication and supervise the progress ofthe meeting but also, if necessary, to break through the initial shyness. Theproject has been contributing to the strengthening of a multiculturalenvironment for many years, and with the help of its original and individualform, it wants to enable and support the establishment of mutual communicationbetween Czech society and foreigners from third countries living in the CzechRepublic.
